“You’re such a bad liar, Katniss. I don’t know you’ve survived this long.” He begins to mimic me. “I knew that goat would be a gold mine. You’re a little cooler, though. Of course I’m not going.” He shakes his head. “Never gamble at cards. You’ll lose your last coin,” he says. By late afternoon, I lie with my head on Peeta’s lap, making a crown of flowers while he fiddles with my hair, claiming he’s practicing his knots. After a while, his hands go still. “What?” I ask. “I wish I could freeze this moment, right here, right now, and live in it forever,” he says. I feel so warm and relaxed and beyond worrying about a future I’ll never have, I just let the word slip out. ” Okay” “Then you’ll allow it?” “I’ll allow it,” I say Fights, battles have begun, revenge will surely come. Your hard times are ahead. Best, you’ve got to be the best. You’ve got to change the world and use this chance to be heard. Your time, your time is now. “It’s not necessary. My nightmares are usually about losing you,” he says. “I’m okay once I realize you’re here.”
